SAPIC is an APA Accredited Internship Program
The 2014-15 internship year will mark the nineteenth year of existence and the eighteenth year of A.P.A. accreditation for the Southern Arizona Psychology Internship Center (SAPIC). SAPIC was created to provide interns who desire a learning experience in a cutting-edge, managed health care community behavioral health care environment with high quality training. SAPIC is currently based within La Frontera Center, Inc., (www.lafronteraarizona.org) a community behavioral health organization serving about 18,000 underserved and culturally diverse clients, the University of Arizona (UA) Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques (SALT) Center (http://www.salt.arizona.edu/index.php ), providing an array of services to over 500 UA students with learning disabilities, and Sierra Tucson (sierratucson.com), a 138-bed, internationally renowned inpatient treatment center providing individualized treatment for addictions and an array of psychological disorders.
SAPIC offers interns the opportunity to sharpen their psychotherapeutic and assessment skills with a culturally, socioeconomically, and clinically diverse clientele of various ages, in a variety of community settings, and with professionals from many disciplines. Such flexibility provides interns with opportunities to meet their training needs, while preparing for competition in today’s complex and changing behavioral health market. SAPIC and our host organizations value and celebrate diversity; we invite all applicants who share in these values and who seek the opportunity to work with “all who walk in our doors.”
